Istanbul

Posted on by Juli Hundei

10 days to visit a big city in the border of two continents. Istanbul is in my mind like a magic city, full of contrasts, of people, of culture, of music, and of cats.

I have been impress by the sound of the never sleeping streets, the silence of the mosques, the anthill-old bazar, the hidden places where you can flirt with the skyline, the corner of galata tower with it's painters, sculptors, and antique shops where you can have and entire day, meeting people, painting, eating specialties and drinking tea.

I hardly recommend cucurcuma street. Visit few shops, have a moment with the "turkish picasso", go to get a hamam then you can continue you way, crossing the bridge to get lost in the grand bazar. There, you have to find Büyuk Valide Han next to the spice bazar and give 1 lira to the door guard to enjoy the quiet place on the top of the city.

Take a boat to the Bosphorus river, go to the Asian part to see a more authentic Turkish life, have a burger in the Heisenberg bar in Karakoy, the Brooklyn part of Istanbul, visit few not famous mosques and go to the old roman cistern.

Istanbul deserve to be in a chill out move to visit. Take your time, enjoy every single moment, pet some cats and turn at every corner, take few stairs, you will be a part of this gorgeous city, which is breathing in the middle of the world for longer than 2700 years !

A good place to sleep if you are looking for a hostel : the stray cat, next to Taksim. really good location, really nice people, and a place where artists are always welcome ! I have worked there for 10 days, making breakfasts in a very good atmosphere ! I recommend !
